Surah At-Tariq
(The Night Comer)
Chapter 86
It is 17 Verses 1 Unit (Ruku’): Revealed at Makkah
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
1. I (Allah) swear by the sky and the night comer;
2. And what will make you know what the night comer is?
3. (It is) the star of piercing brightness;
4. There is no soul but over it is a keeper (Angel).
5. So let man observe from what he is created:
6. He is created from a drop, emitted,
7. Proceeding from between the backbone (of man) and the ribs (of woman).
8. Most surely He (Allah) is Able to bring man back (to life after his death for Judgment).
9. On the Day when the secrets are exposed (examined and judged),
10. Man will have neither strength nor helper.
11. I (Allah) swear by the sky which is ever revolving.
12. And by the earth which is ever bursting (with the growth of vegetation).
13. Most surely it (the Qur’an) is a decisive Word,
14. And it is not idle talk (to disbelieve in).
15. Surely they are plotting a plot (against the Truth),
16. But Allah (too) is planning a plan (against them).
17. So grant delay to the disbelievers; give them respite for a while.
