Surah Al-Infitar
(The Breaking Apart of the Sky)
Chapter 82
It is 19 Verses 1 Unit (Ruku’): Revealed at Makkah
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
1. When the sky is cleft asunder.
2. And when the stars are scattered,
3. And when the seas burst forth,
4. And when (contents of) the graves are overturned (and emptied),
5. Every soul (then) shall know what it has sent forth and what it has left behind (of good or bad deeds).
6. O man! What has distracted you from (Allah) your (real) Lord, the Most Generous,
7. Who created you, then fashioned you, then proportioned you in perfection?
8. In whatever form He willed He assembled you.
9. No! But you deny the Recompense (i.e., the rewards in the Hereafter, both good and bad, for one’s deeds).
10. And most surely there are watchers over you (Angels);
11. Honorable scribes,
12. They know whatever you do.
13. Most surely the righteous shall be in Bliss,
14. And most surely the wicked shall be in the blazing Fire,
15. Which they will enter on the Day of Recompense.
16. And never shall they be absent from it.
17. And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
18. Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
19. The Day (of Judgment) on which no soul will have power to do anything for (another) soul; and the Command that Day will be (wholly) for Allah.
