Surah Al-Fatihah

(The Opening)

Chapter 1

It is 7 Verses 1 Unit (Ruku’): Revealed at Makkah

1. In the Name of Allah (God), the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

2. All praise is due to Allah, the (real) Lord (Creator, Sustainer, and Ruler) of

all that exists (of mankind, jinn, angels, etc.).

3. The Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

4.Master of the Day of Judgment.

5. You alone do we worship (and serve in love, faith, and hope) and You

alone we seek (and turn to) for help.

6. Guide us to the right Path (and keep us on it).

7. The Path of those upon whom You have bestowed Your Favor (i.e., the Prophets, the truthful, the witnesses to the Truth and the righteous), not those upon whom there is Your Anger (i.e., the misguided who are obstinate or hypocritical or who know the Truth and yet deviate from it and lead others astray), nor of those who are astray (i.e., who misperceive the Divine religion and refuse to accept the Truth, and instead of clinging to true Monotheism, the worship of Allah alone, they take and follow hearsay written by men such as the doctrine of the Trinity, of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, which is unscriptal and a baseless creed, and as a result, those who follow it are wandering in misguidance).
